ZASK'A CH'AT'AGHA 2022 UPDATEUNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA CERTIFICATE OF INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE REVITALIZATION GRADUATION 2021
In 2019, staff at the Tsúūt’ínà Gūnáhà Institute started their journey to attend the Certificate of Indigenous Language Revitalization at the University of Victoria. This program helped them develop practical strategies for local language preservation and revitalization initiatives that are unique to their local community. The CILR program was identified as first step in the learning pathway with a goal to increase the number of professionals and certified teachers on the Nation with fluency or pedagogical expertise. A total of 23 learners from the Tsúūt’ínà Gūnáhà Institute accessed the courses during the partnership, 14 will graduate this June 2021 and move onto University of Calgary Bachelor of Education program this fall, 2021. The University of Victoria will be hosting a virtual graduation on June 18, 2021 and the Tsúūt’ínà Gūnáhà Institute will be hosting a social distance Graduation event at the end of June 2021.
